06/19/2024 at 6:36 am #13526LindaGuestfor Bali it’s 100% online very easy and credit cards. but no idea for Thailand, probably have to pay cash at an Embassy knowing how old fashioned they are for everything
06/19/2024 at 9:16 pm #13529SophiaGuestwalk into Immigration office, get screamed at, walk out
visit local Thai Embassy in Laos or Malaysia, get screamed at again, pay lots of cash, visa rejected
try to load Immigration website, no English, always infected with malware or crashed
rinse and repeat

06/21/2024 at 10:45 pm #13538RandyGuest06/21/2024 at 10:48 pm #13539AlanGuestThis is the official website. However, it never works, very slow, and has been hacked multiple times. To make things worse you’re not “eligible” to use the website if you’re not currently resided in your home/native country. So the entire thing is bloody worthless imo

06/23/2024 at 10:41 pm #13547DonnaGuestfyi beware of thaievisa.org that is a scam website from Europe, not Thai government
06/26/2024 at 7:10 pm #13562NicholasGuestThe 5-year visa is called Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and you can only stay in Thailand for 180 days each visit (or less). According to AFAR magazine you must pay the 10,000 baht visa fee every 180 days window it sounds like. So in typical Thai style it doesn’t make sense, because it sounds like it’s really just a 6 month visa and you have to pay again every 6 months… I don’t know what is the “5 years” number really mean, I guess they are just approving you for a 5 year period of time and to ensure that it will sunset after that on your profile.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old and either be self-employed or work for a business outside Thailand. The application fee for the visa is 10,000 Thai baht (about US$272 based on current conversion rates).

they haven’t announced yet (June 2024) how to apply for the DTV digital nomad visa. It sounds like they might use the https://www.thaievisa.go.th website or if that doesn’t get approved you are stuck having to make an appointment at a Thai embassy or consulate probably.

Update – June 24, 2024: On May 28, 2024, the Thai cabinet approved the Destination Thailand Visa, but the visa has not yet been officially implemented.
06/26/2024 at 7:13 pm #13564ArthurGuestThai government always finds a way to make every visa suck, the application process suck, and then it ends up dying.
07/03/2024 at 12:46 am #13570JulieGuesthey guys, have they opened this visa yet
07/12/2024 at 7:16 pm #13832MargaretGuestbeen a few months and Thai government still has said nothing about how to apply for this visa.
I’m starting to doubt it will happen!

07/24/2024 at 8:57 am #13955RonaldGuestfrom a few days ago, July 2024:
it says “For more information, please contact the Thai Embassy or consulate in your area of residence.”
07/24/2024 at 8:59 am #13956KevinGuestMarch, April, May, June, July… 5 months?
and they finally just say to contact the fucking Thai embassy LOLas predicted, sounds like walking back. I’m not surprised if they add more conditions and trying to essentially cancel the DTV visa now.

08/05/2024 at 5:54 am #14037GeorgeGuestgood interview by Chris Parker about DTV with Thailand Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
08/05/2024 at 5:59 am #14038FrancesGuestThey are starting to issue these visas now, but you have to apply at your local Thai embassy or consulate in the country where you presently reside (not necessary your home country). And much better if the embassy you choose uses the new eVisa (online) system to save headaches.
08/29/2024 at 5:07 am #14108MatthewGuestYou are not eligible to apply for a visa through Thai E-Visa system. Please apply for a visa in person at the nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate.
I see this when trying to apply DTV visa there on Thai evisa website.
